December 28, 2008 ~ Christmas 1
- Our community
grieves the death, December 26, of Sandy McCorkindale
at the age of 56. A memorial service will take place on Wednesday, December 31,
at 11 am.
- Members are
reminded that to qualify for a 2008 tax credit
offerings must be forwarded to the church by December 31. The post is monitored
into 2009 to catch any straggling mail.

- Our community
enjoys a terrific choir service, this morning, followed by the Faith
Adventures Christmas program. Wonderful!
- Our Community will
celebrate
Christmas on Christmas Eve at 7 and 11 pm.
- Our community is
reminded of Monday's annual Christmas
Blood Donor Clinic hosted by Trinity Church at Waterloo-Oxford
DSS.
- As always, we
hear many
words of appreciation for the terrific Christmas
ministry of our choirs, soloists and musicians, worship ministers, decorators
and artists, ELW members, Priscillas, Faith Adventures staff and
children.
- Members are

- Our community
welcomes the birth, December 10, of Nathaniel William
Anderson, a baby for Pr. Anne & Trevor Anderson.
- This morning, at
our Anchor Community worship, we are honoured to have Pastor Bob Thaler
preaching. This evening, Pastor Rob
Wiesner will begin to regularly preside at Sanctuary. On December 1, Pastor
Helen Toman began to assist with pastoral care. Together with other
colleagues, these friends are helping us to carry the ball while Pastor Anne is
off. We are very grateful.

the age of nine. The funeral will take place at Trinity Church on Thursday at 11
am.

Trevor. The baby is due any day... hour... minute...
- The Advent
Mitten Tree is in full bloom! Tomorrow, the
Advent tree comes down while the Christmas tree goes up. The warm winter woollies
will be placed in Trinity's Christmas Hampers.

choir --Trinity Choir-- sings this morning, now 35
members
strong! The Affirmation! Singers are also back into rehearsal mode. Wonderful!

- After the Labour Day break, our community's ministries will
resume
for fall. On Wednesday, our Second Century Project Task Group meets to refine
possibilities; on
Thursday, both choirs begin their 2008-2009 seasons; and next Sunday, "Back-Pack
Sunday",
our Faith Adventures program takes wing once more.

- We welcome the
births... July 1, of Amaya Raine Snyder,
a daughter for Shannon (Roth) and Jared Snyder; and July 2, of Lily Moon
Diebel, a daughter for Tristen (McCorkindale) and Scott Diebel; and July 7,
of Merena Krista MacDonald, a daughter for Debra (Wagler) and Brad
MacDonald.
- On July 7, the Second Century Project Task Group made
presentations to the ELW, Priscillas, Funeral Lunch people and Altar Guild members
(and others having an interest in the prospect of new kitchen facilities). A similar
presentation was made to staff and others on July 10. At the same time, other Task
Group members are focused on using a remote-controlled camera to examine our
current sewer lines with a view to mapping them and insuring their integrity. To date,
some $4,300 in Bruce Hammer & Norm Wettlaufer memorials have been directed
toward the Second Century Project Fund.

- We are grateful for
the music ministry of Emily Ritz who
is on-deck for a number of Sundays while Director of Music Gywin Murray
is on vacation. This summer, three youths will serve at musicians at worship: Emily
Ritz (piano); Jeffrey Kropf (piano); and Caleb Doyle (organ). Both
Jeffrey and Caleb are studying organ with Marlin Nagtegaal, Director of Music, St. John
the Evangelist Anglican Church, Kitchener.
- This morning, we
learn that over $3,000 in Bruce Hammer & Norm Wettlaufer memorial contributions
have been directed toward a Second Century Project Fund (a.k.a. Kitchen Fund).
Wow! The Second Century Project Task Group meets for the first time this Wednesday.
June 22, 2008 ~ Pentecost 6
- Our community
grieves the death, June 20, of
Norm Wettlaufer at the age of 72. We shall celebrate his life on Monday, June
23, at 11 am.
- This morning, we
learn some terrific news: On Wednesday, June 18,
Council approved in principle some concept drawings for a Second Century Project having five goals: 1.
to address the need for a new sanitary sewage line; 2. to address the issue of the
settling floor in
Trinity Hall; 3. to address the need for a more hospitable kitchen; 4. to address the
need for additional
program space; 5. to mark the 100th anniversary of Trinity's sanctuary (1910-2010).
Council has struck a Second Century Project Task
Group composed of Flex Bender (Council
chair), Pat Schmetzer (Council - hospitality), Bill Lindner (Council -
property), Rick
Ritz (at large - stewardship), Darrin Gueguen (at large -
plumbing/mechanical) and Pastors
André Lavergne & Anne Anderson (ex officio). The Task
Group
will meet for the
first time on Wednesday, July 2, to get ourselves up to steam and to begin some
significant summer
work. The Task Group will make a first report to Council in August with some ideas
around how to
proceed.
Already, a number of Bruce Hammer memorial contributions have served to start a
Second Century Project Fund (a.k.a. Kitchen Fund).
We are
grateful to Bruce's family for their thoughtfulness. We also want to express a word of
profound thanks to
Michel Gascon who has been assisting Council by producing concept drawings for our
project.

Bruce Hammer at the age of 71. Bruce served as Trinity's sexton and as an
assisting minister at worship in latter days. He served in many other capacities over the

May 18, 2008 ~ Holy Trinity
- New Hamburg is
quiet as many have left the community for the Victoria Day weekend.
- Pastor
Anderson is out of the parish leading a large number of Trinity youth at
Pitch 'N Praise.
- In his sermon, Pastor Lavergne quotes himself from
a letter to Bishop Pryse regarding the Friday evening ordination of Pastor
Lionel Ketola in Newmarket: "Treating gays and lesbians as the lesser children
of a lesser god is wrong." He goes on to say that for him "participation in Lionel's
ordination is not an act of defiance --as much as some would seek to frame it that way--
as it is an act of despair." He also expresses gratitude to Pastor Anderson and
to Trinity's congregational council for the manner in which they have approached this
very difficult issue. The intercessions include bids for Bishop Pryse, synod
council, and the congregation and pastors of Holy Cross, Newmarket.

- What a wonderful
week! As mentioned
last Sunday, a person in our community is in need of furniture/furnishings for a small apartment.

iron & ironing board, broom, dust-pan, small casserole, toilet bowl brush, plunger,
sewing notions, tea

Mitten Tree is up and receiving lots of warm
winter woollies.
- Our
TYGers host continuing MESH and bake sales
to raise funds for
Halifax.
- This evening, our
Sanctuary Community uses it's "singing bowl" --a sort
of sanctus bell--
from Nepal for the first time.
- People have begun
to turn in gifts --due next week-- for our Christmas
Hamper
program.
- End-of-November
offering statements are available this morning. New
envelope sets for
2008 were issued last week.
